Heather Giles

Rock Hill High School (NC)

Over the past 24 years, Heather has taught Spanish levels 1-5 (IB), as well as ESOL. She has been National Board-certified since 2007 and was the South Carolina World Language Teacher of the Year in 2016. When not writing curriculum in the summers, she can be found in or on the water, spending time with her family and pets, or doing home improvement projects.

The National Foreign Language Center (NFLC) is a unit of the University of Maryland. For more than three decades, we have focused on partnerships with educational institutions and organizations, governments agencies, organizations, and individual scholars and policy makers. Our primary means of realizing our mission is through strengthening people’s knowledge of world languages, especially those less commonly taught in the United States.
